Kharlovka report, week 28 (5-12 July 2025)

The past week on the Kharlovka and Eastern Litza turned out truly rich and contrasting — both in weather and fishing.

It all started with chilly days and relentless rains: air temperatures stayed between +6 and +9°C, while water temperatures swung from 6.4 up to almost 10°C. Record downpours pushed the river level from 27 cm to a peak of 60 cm — something we usually see in spring, but this summer nature decided to surprise us with a bonus round for the salmon and for us.

Fourteen guests fished the rivers this week — from seasoned fly anglers to those who picked up a double-hander for the very first time. And despite the tricky weather and high water, everyone did well: more than 180 salmon were landed over the week.

There were some special moments too:
— Maxim lifted everyone’s spirits during the rainiest days — two trophy salmon of around 12 kg each in a single day on the Eastern Litza, and 16 fish to his name within the first two days alone.
— Elena, the only lady in the group, brought in two beautiful 8 kg salmon — an impressive result, especially considering that not all the men managed to hook fish bigger than 5 kg in the same days.
— Damir, a first-time guest, chose Kharlovka for his very first Atlantic salmon adventure — and didn’t regret it: on Friday, he proudly received a certificate for his 10.5 lb salmon, setting his personal best from the start.

Two days really stood out: July 10th delivered an incredible tempo with over 40 salmon landed, including Roman’s strong fish from the Snowbank pool on the Eastern Litza. The very next day, July 11th, raised the bar even higher with more than 40 fish caught again — plus truly summer-like weather reaching up to +17°C.

This week wasn’t easy — fishing in rain, wind and fog tested everyone — but the fresh water brought in strong runs of salmon, rewarding us with aggressive takes, exciting pools and unforgettable fights.

Every guest left with new memories, fresh stories and plans already forming to come back next season.
