Kharlovka report, week 29 (12 -1 July 2025)

On Saturday the group of guests landed on Kharlovka with warm summer weather and a fairly high water level of 48 cm due to heavy rains the previous week. The warmth lasted for a couple of days, the water warmed up to 15-16C then the north wind brought a cold snap - the air temperature dropped to 7-9C. The water level gradually decreased during the week and by Friday it was 23 cm, there was almost no rain. By the end of the week it was warmer again – the changeable Arctic weather showed itself in all its glory and forced anglers to use the entire range of gear and equipment.

The group consisted of 11 guests, three fishermen came to the camp with their sons. As always we admired the younger generation of fly fishermen and their fishing successes.

Special mention goes to young Semyon – he set a good fishing pace from the very first day and on Monday he caught 18-pounder male (8.1 kg) at the Eastern Litza Falls. Congratulations to Semyon on his new personal best!

And the next day Litza Falls pleased Vyacheslav – he landed a 16.5 pound (7.5 kg) female and two more salmon of 9 and 11 pounds.

But the real reward awaited Vyacheslav on Wednesday on the legendary Kharlovka Home Pool – at the end of a fishing day just near the camp he caught his trophy - 14 kg salmon (30.8 lbs, 104 cm) on his guide Artem's special fly. The biggest fish of the week and Vyacheslav's new personal best. A great result for the first time on Kharlovka!

Thursday was a memorable day for Vadim – he caught a male 19.6-pounder (8.9 kg) at the Eastern Litza’s Classics which became his new personal best. This week on Kharlovka became the most successful for Vadim for three years of fly fishing, both in terms of the number and size of fish caught.

The week turned out to be more than productive – the season record for the number of salmon caught in a day was broken – more than 40, as well as for the total number for the week – the team landed more than 250 fish in total. Most of the catch was grealses of 2-3 kg but also many salmon over 15 pounds were caught. Surprisingly the vast majority of fish are still fresh and bright silver.

Great company and fantastic results!
