Rynda – June 2023

Fly fishing beginners often ask what time of the season is the best for fishing?

Spring of course!

It’s a great time on the north of the Kola peninsula. Nature wakes up after a long winter. Spring weather on the north is changeable and often severe. Lots of water, no mosquitos at all and most importantly – first spring salmon appear in the river.

Also important that the fishing at this time is “labour” as they say. You need to work hard.

Everything changes on the river every day – the water level drops changing the river and the fishing a lot. More and more salmon enter the river. And these salmon go up the river. Pool that hasn’t yet worked yesterday will provide a good fishing today.

Spring was early this year. Flood peak occurred in the middle of May and then the water started to drop and heat quite quickly. As usual Sea Pool, 10 Islands, Rock Island and Home Pool worked well during the whole June.

This year fish passed the first waterfall unusually early. We were already catching the first salmon in the middle current of Rynda (Power Pool, Norway, 2nd Waterfall) starting 20th June.

Spring brought a lot of emotions to our guests. First fish caught on a fly, breaks and personal bests, disappointing losses and beautiful pictures with the trophies which will be remembered for life.
