Kharlovka Report Week 34 (15-21 August 2026)
This was a very varied week, with cool northern weather, relatively stable water temperatures, and its own special Kharlovka intrigue. Air temperatures ranged from +10 to +15°C, water temperatures from +11.9 to +14.4°C, while the water level fluctuated between −11 and −10 cm. The river remained fairly stable for most of the week, but the fishing itself was certainly far from easy.
The main story of the week was undoubtedly the sea-trout fishing. Katya and Rodion caught 56 sea trout together during the week, bringing their total to an impressive 101 sea trout over the past two weeks! During this period, they not only steadily increased their catch numbers but also set several personal records. Rodion landed a sea trout of 4.1 kg,
Meanwhile Katya broke her own record with a 4.1 kg fish.
and then added another excellent 3.5 kg specimen. There were also some truly remarkable days — Rodion, for example, caught an incredible 17 sea trout in a single day.
The salmon fishing was equally eventful, with more than 35 salmon landed during the week. There were some beautiful Atlantic salmon as well as plenty of lively grilse. After a difficult first day, Mikhail quickly bounced back and caught five fish the following day, including two salmon, and later finally opened his account with a grilse at the Litsa Waterfall. Sergey also consistently produced good results, with salmon of 5 and 7 kg among his catches, while Yuri and Oleg steadily added fish to the week's total.
Although the fishing this week was genuinely hard work and challenging at times, our anglers performed exceptionally well. Everyone found their own way to work with the river, kept searching for fish, and never gave up, even on the toughest days. These are often the most rewarding weeks — when every salmon or sea trout is the result of real effort, patience, and skill.
In the end, the week gave us 56 sea trout for Katya and Rodion, 101 sea trout over two weeks, and more than 35 salmon for the salmon anglers. An excellent result for a demanding northern week of fishing — and yet another reminder that our anglers know how to find success even when the river makes them work for it.
