Kharlovka Week 25 report (17-24 June 2023)

Morning air temperature range: 7.3°C - 15.3 °C

Water temperature range: 9.6°C - 13.6°C
Water level has dropped from 28 cm to 15 cm.
Number of rods: 14
Total for the week: 159 fish

A hot week in terms of both weather and fishing.

Upon the arrival the guests were accommodated in their rooms, followed by a good lunch and quickly got ready for the fishing. Everybody couldn’t wait to get the first bites and to fight a fresh fish. The result of the first fishing day of 18 fish tuned the whole team to the positive wave.

We were very glad to welcome back our good old friend Chris and this week was memorable for him. He managed to land 14 fresh salmon including a great 27-pounder (12.2 kg) which became his new personal best.

On Sunday Alexey and his fishing friend Vyacheslav went to Eastern Litza overnight. There on his very first fishing spot (Ledge pool) Alexey has caught 3 fish in a row - 10lb (4.5 kg), 26lb (11,7 kg) and his new personal best of 32lb (14,5 kg).

Bright sunny days with rare clouds can be considered as the most comfortable on the river. Mosquitoes are not yet active and the bugs don’t challenge the fishing.

Ruslan was fishing for Atlantic salmon for the first time and fly fishing in general is new for him. First days of fishing were training and observational for him however as usual the best training is practice. As a result he has caught 2 nice female salmon on the Eastern Litza Flat Stone - 16,6lb (7,5 kg) and the personal best of 20,8lb (9,5 kg). It is very important for a beginner to get such highlighted and memorable emotions. We are looking forward to meeting Ruslan next season and for his new trophies!

For the first time in the ASR history a ring fish was landed by a lady! This news has arrived from the Eastern Liza again from one of the teams. Svetlana was fishing on the Tent pool in the company of Anton the guide. It was very windy that day however she managed to make proper casts. Suddenly a Willie Gun fly touched the water and started to rush. A strong take, adrenaline – and the time seemed to stop. A well-coordinated work of the angler and the guide allowed to land this wonderful trophy – Atlantic salmon of 35.12 lb (15.87 kg) weight, 114 cm length and 64 cm girth.

We’ve celebrated Friday by presenting a veteran ring to Alexandr. This event was unique because Alexandr is one of the few of our friends who has the whole set of ASR rings.

Unforgettable and very positive week which will remain in the history of the ASR!
